16 Julio, Huécija: Fiestas Patronales en Honor a Nuestra Señora La Virgen Del Carmen

Nuestra Señora la Virgen del Carmen is the patron saint of the town of Huécija and devotion goes back to 1878, is related to the plegaria at the time the that the cholera epidemic hit the province.

The festivities take place around the cult of the Virgin of Carmen, with the completion of a Mass on 16 July and a procession of the image of the town streets followed by many faithful devotees who are both neighbors the municipality and others who had to leave their land but return each year for the holidays to meet the promises made to the Bessed Virgin.

The duration of the holidays usually five or six days, during which the town is decorated whit light and banners ande various activities for the enjoyment of residents and all visitors are produced. Are announced by the ringing of bells and firing of rockets typical.

Since summer theater or cinema to sports competitions are offered during the holidays.

For children fun parades and popular games (sack race, ribbon race on bicycle and motorcycle...)football competitions wiht the participation of the peoples of the region, paddel competitions offered.

Seniors also has its protagonist moment championship trick and "subastao" (card games).

The music does not lack these days, the Band Huécija-Alicún, enliven target, procession, concerts, fair noon and the parade with Queen of Parties and Ladies of Honor; in the evening include performances of Musical Orchestra high level in both province and beyond traditional and modern dances.
